How it works
The principle of air separation by fluorite molecular sieve depends on the different diffusion speeds of oxygen molecules and nitrogen molecules in the micropores of fluorite molecular sieve, or different adsorption forces, or both effects working at the same time. Under adsorption equilibrium conditions, the adsorption amount of oxygen and nitrogen molecules by fluorite molecular sieve is similar. However, under adsorption kinetic conditions, the diffusion speed of oxygen molecules into the micropores of molecular sieve is much slower than that of nitrogen molecules. Therefore, through proper control, nitrogen molecules are adsorbed in the solid phase of fluorite molecular sieve in a time far from equilibrium conditions, while oxygen molecules are enriched in the gas phase. At the same time, the capacity of fluorite molecular sieve to adsorb nitrogen molecules increases as its partial pressure increases, and decreases as its partial pressure decreases. In this way, fluorite molecular sieve adsorbs helium molecules to enrich oxygen molecules when pressurized, and desorbs nitrogen molecules to be discharged into the air when depressurized, and repeats the cycle to achieve the purpose of separating air. It is referred to as PSA oxygen production.
